Repasemos algunas expresiones que se utilizan para hablar de la lluvia.
What’s the weather like?= ¿Cómo está el tiempo?
It’s rainy= Está lluvioso.
It’s stormy= Está tormentoso.
It’s raining cats and dogs, it’s pouring with rain o it’s coming down in buckets: se usan para decir que llueve mucho.
Storm es tormenta, showers chaparrones, hail granizo y drizzle llovizna.
Rayos se dice lightning y truenos thunder.
Otras frases en las que la palabra rain está presente:
Come rain or shine significa sin importar lo que pase. Ej.: I’ll be there come rain or shine.
It never rains but it pours quiere decir que las cosas (buenas o malas) pasan todas al mismo tiempo. Ej.: First, the car broke down, then there was a fire in the kitchen and now Paul has had an accident! It never rains but it pours!
Save for a rainy day se usa para cuando queremos guardar algo para cuando lo necesitemos.
